Reader

We are called to immerse ourselves in God's Word.

Hence, some are called to proclaim God’s word during our Eucharistic celebrations and sacramental services.  They are also invited to lead the community in prayer; and sometimes to announce the events of the parish.

All are welcome to become readers.  If you are interested, please contact the parish office.

Altar Servers

As an altar server,

you uniquely engage with your community and draw closer to faith. This ministry fosters belonging and purpose, while upholding a rich liturgical tradition. Altar servers play a crucial role in enhancing celebrations by ensuring all elements are prepared at the right moments.

If you have had your First Holy Communion, you can become an Altar Server. Training is organized by the Sacristans.

If you would like to serve at Mass, please contact the parish office or speak to one of the sacristans after Mass.

Youth Service

Pope Francis has initiated a move to look at how the Catholic Church can better support young people. He has asked that the voices of young people be heard, and we wish to encourage this within our parish community. Youth Masses are held at St Margaret's and special youth events such as Elevation are held in our parish.

The Archdiocese of Southwark also insists that our parishes must be a place where every young person finds a space to deepen their faith, grow in friendship, and prepared to be called to serve the Lord in their parishes, across the Diocese, and within the wider Church

If you would like to join the youth ministry, please contact the parish office.

Charismatic Renewal Prayer Group

St Margaret's has a Renewal Prayer Group that helps its members discovered the Lord in a deeper way.  Their guiding desire is to be grounded in faith and love of God led by the Holy Spirit.

It is open to all parishioners and Catholics from other parishes interested encountering our Lord Jesus and assisting in the mission of the Church of Christ.

They have catechectical events and retreats

Join them in their gatherings, where they unite for and worship, meditate on the Word of God, and discuss its relevance in their lives. Their meetings feature prayers of petition and intercession, a heartfelt welcome new members, and inspiring personal testimonies. They also host talks that promote both individual and group growth, presented by members and guest speakers.  Moreover, they cherish opportunities for adoration whenever they can, enhancing their shared spiritual life in the Christ Jesus.

Divine Mercy
Prayer Group

Guided by the inspirations of St Faustina Kowalska, St. Margaret's Divine Mercy Group prays everyday in the parish the chaplet of the Divine Mercy.

In her Diary, 699, the Lord asked St. Faustina "to tell the whole world about His inconceivable mercy. He desires the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment . . . Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy."
The Feast of Divine Mercy is celebrated on Our Lord’s explicit desire is that this feast be celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter, or Divine Mercy Sunday.

St. John Paul II made the surprise announcement of this change in his homily at the canonization of St. Faustina on 30th April, 2000.

In our parish the chaplet of Divine Mercy is recited after morning Masses Monday to Saturday.

The Legion of Mary
(Mother of Hope Presidium)

NAME AND ORIGIN
The Legion of Mary is an Association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of all Graces (who is fair as the moon, bright as the sun, and – to Satan and his legionaries – terrible as an army set in battle array), have formed themselves into a Legion for service in the warfare which is perpetually waged by the Church against the world and its evil powers.
“The whole life of men, both individual and social, shows
itself to be a struggle, and a dramatic one, between good and evil, between light and darkness.” (GS 13)
The legionaries hope to render themselves worthy of their great heavenly Queen by their loyalty, their virtues, and their courage. The Legion of Mary is therefore organised on the model of an army, principally on that of the army of ancient  Rome, the terminology of which is adopted also. But the army and the arms of legionaries of Mary are not of this world"

(From the Legion Handbook, p. 9).

At St. Margaret's we are blessed to have a presidium of the Legion of Mary under the Curia in Croydon.  They have assisted in developing the devotion to our Mother Mary in our parish.  Please join the Legion of Mary.
